Empowering Innovation: Armfield Training at AIU’s Advanced Chemical Engineering Lab

AIU takes pride in equipping its faculty, staff, and students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in today’s rapidly advancing world of science and technology. The newly established Advanced Chemical Engineering Lab is a testament to this vision—an innovative space where students gain practical exposure to industrial-scale systems that bridge classroom theory with real-world application.

AIU welcomed Armfield expert Paul Reed, who led a week-long, hands-on training program designed to enhance the expertise of faculty and laboratory staff. The program covered a wide range of advanced systems, including distillation columns, tray driers, fluidized beds, tubular reactors, filtration units, and liquid-liquid extraction processes. With an emphasis on safety and efficiency, participants developed the skills to operate each system effectively, ensuring students benefit from an authentic, practice-driven learning experience that mirrors industry standards.

To recognize these efforts, a certificate distribution event was held on August 28, 2025. The event honored Lina Shehada, Omar Al Ostah, Hassan Ejaz, Ahmad Jad Allah, Yashoda Naidu, Asra Azkat, Asrar Alhammadi, Smitha Samuel, and Jobin Joy—a dedicated team whose passion for innovation and continuous development reflects AIU’s strong commitment to academic excellence. With their newly acquired expertise, they are now even better equipped to guide students through the complexities of chemical engineering, combining global best practices with world-class laboratory resources.

“At AIU, our goal is to ensure that every student graduates with the skills and confidence to thrive in modern industries. By training our faculty directly on advanced systems, we create an environment where excellence is the standard, not the exception. At the same time, these facilities provide a foundation for pioneering research that advances sustainable processes and innovative solutions aligned with Kuwait’s development vision.”
— Dr. Meshal Al Obaid

Through initiatives like this, AIU continues to invest in both infrastructure and people, creating an environment where innovation thrives and future engineers are empowered to lead, discover, and shape the industries of tomorrow.
