American International University (AIU) will host “AI or Not to AI: Responsible Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education” on October 7 and 8, 2026, at the AIU Auditorium. Sponsored by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), the two-day event will explore responsible AI use in education through workshops, an international panel discussion, and interactive activities.
As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into teaching and learning, questions around its appropriate and transparent use are becoming essential to higher education. The program will introduce practical frameworks and encourage discussion about how AI can support the academic experience while maintaining responsible practices.
The first day, taking place from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., will open with welcome remarks, followed by a Huawei workshop titled “Make Thinking Visible – Responsible AI in Education.” Participants will then explore “AI in Action – The AI Usage Pyramid in Higher Education,” before an online panel discussion with Florida State University on responsible AI in education.
The second day, running from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., will focus on practical applications and engagement. The workshop “The AI Traffic Light System – Responsible & Transparent Use of Generative AI in Higher Education” will be followed by an AI Tools Showcase. The program will conclude with “AIU AI Agent,” a student engagement activity.
By bringing together industry perspectives, academic discussion, and opportunities for participation, “AI or Not to AI” will create space for thoughtful dialogue about the evolving role of artificial intelligence in higher education.
